Many of you are doing a cleanse as the start of your Anti – Candida therapy plan. With my clients I know eating such a vegetable rich diet is often a new thing. So what does it look like?
I decided to share a few pictures of the meals that are perfect for this, over the next week or so.
Here is an example of a lunch. This is a green leafy salad, with rocket (arugula/rucola), kale and mixed leaves of lettuce. There are a few carrot shavings and cucumber slices mixed in. It is topped with asparagus, pan fried in a little coconut oil and has grilled broccoli on the side. The pretty red jewels are diced red peppers and it is topped with thinly sliced celery for crunch and borage flowers for beauty. Fresh coconut slithers decorate the top and it is dressed in a delicious mix of olive oil, fresh lemon juice and a touch of crushed garlic and chilli. You could top it with a soft boiled egg or half an avocado.
Now this is what I want you to have for lunch – delicious!!
The benefits of a food diary if you are trying to reduce what you eat and be a more mindful eater are legendary. Have you ever tried to do this? I don’t know if it’s just me, but it is close to an impossible task for me. I would rather have joined Hercules in his first quest to get the skin of the invulnerable and dangerous Nemean lion, than keep a simple food diary – crazy stuff.
However all this has changed with the encouragement of a girlfriend (yes – one of my thinspirations) and now I am on day three and Hercules can head off by himself. This is painless and easy and definitely something I will keep up. So I am using http://www.myfitnesspal.com – and it is great. I am doing it as I go, meal for meal, and I cannot believe what the calories are in some things. I really was caught out by tea and milk and a sugar – of English descent, I drink many, many great cups of tea a day. After that little calorie surprise I now know why most diets ask you to cut sugar and dairy. So I only have 2 a day now and the rest are black and sugar free. Amazing benefit of doing meal by meal was I could immediately correct my mistake and cut back on dinner and still be in my calorie range. Cool.
It also made sense why the real gurus on this say “Don’t drink your calories” So although it may sound boring, I am drinking mainly water, am conscious of any other drinks I have, and will worry about being boring after I have bought my new swim suit – yes the expensive and fancy one I am going to reward myself with, when I get to my goal weight.

I have 2 girlfriends who are my real thinspiration. Both were overweight at some stage of their lives and at a specific point, decided one day – “This is it, not one kg more!!!!”
My first friend had an event she was going to in the future and decided there was no ways she was going to be anything but her best. Good for her. Giving herself 6 months for the programme, she chose a nutritious, fresh, low GI menu and stuck to it. Yes she had a slice of cake at bridge, but no she did not have a slice of cake, 2 brownies and some delicious quiche like the rest of us. She was just disciplined and consistent, if she had a “Break all the rules” meal, she just climbed back on the band wagon and from her next meal stuck to it again. She did not agonise or fuss – she just simply did it. Well you should have seen the gorgeous dress she wore to her special event and heard all the compliments. She looks fantastic and healthy and 10 years younger. A year later, as it is now, she has not gained one gram. She still is quite observant of the choices she makes regarding what delicious morsel to hang off the end of her fork. Sugar is out and fruit is IN. Quantity is out, BUT quality is IN. Seeing her steady, disciplined, one day at a time, one step at a time approach, makes Jane my primary godess of thinspiration.
